discovery is sweet

Soooooo, Cafe Rio is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Seriously. Sometimes I go through these phases where I literally have to stop myself from running there to grab a burrito or salad everyday. They started Cafe Rio in Utah, and I thought that by moving back to California, I was losing this awesome restaurant. And I was totally bummed.

But today at work, I said this same thing to some of the girls. And Kiera said, "No! They just opened up some Cafe Rio's in Southern California! Look it up!"

And would you believe? There is one in Oxnard! It's the closest of the 5 locations in California and about 45 minutes away from my home. But, when I am oober-craving a pork salad, I can drive the 45 minutes to get one, instead of crying because I think I'm 12 hours away from the nearest location.

You have no idea how excited I am about this. It's even on the way to the beach. So I could ultimately grab a salad on the way to Silverstrand. Woot!

last girls nights

Before I leave Provo next weekend, I'm determined to see as many friends as I can.

I don't really have that many friends in California anymore, so I know my social life will slow down for a bit before I start making new friends.

I have been successful in my Provo outings so far.

My work girlies and I went to see Dinner for Schmucks the other night after work. We got to the theater an hour before the movie started, so we walked around and bought ice cream while listening to Ashley tell hilarious stories about skinny dipping at the PG public pool in high school and the times she got caught or almost got caught.

I'm not really going to miss work, but I'm definitely going to miss the girls (and guys) I work with!

Dinner for Schmucks was so stupid, it was funny. And it had a good moral to the story. They make fun of idiots, but he becomes best friends with his idiot, who is a walking disaster. And he learns to treat everyone with respect regardless of weirdness.

LAST night, I decided to have another girls night out with my old/now married roommates. We do it every so often, but once I move, we won't all be in the same place ever again. So I decided to take advantage of our geographical closeness one last time.

We went to Red Robin's and talked for a couple of hours; conversation ranged from Prop 8 to Melissa's new business proposition.

Afterwards, JSchro and I went to see Charlie St. Cloud. It was a great film. I had been hesitant to see the movie because I thought it was one of those movies where if you've seen the preview, you've seen the movie.

I was SO wrong.

JSchro has seen the movie before, and when there was a twist that made me think, "Ahhh!!", she looked over at me and said, "Haha, you weren't expecting that, huh?"

The preview definitely misleads you to think you know what the movie is about. If you haven't seen the movie, you really don't know. Go see it. It's worth it. 

And Zac Efron is just so good looking. Even if you end up not liking the movie, you at least got a full 1 1/2 hours of eye candy.

He just looks so good in jeans and a t-shirt, doesn't he?

California judge overturns Proposition 8

SAN FRANCISCO — A California judge has overturned the voter referendum that bans same-sex marriage in California.

In a ruling issued Wednesday afternoon, Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker struck down Proposition 8, passed by 7 million voters in 2008. Prop 8 had been challenged by two same-sex couples and the city of San Francisco in Perry et al vs. Schwarzenegger.
Prior to the judge's ruling, which was released shortly before 2 p.m. Pacific Time, both sides had said they will appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the last step before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Tuesday night, lawyers for the Prop 8 defense team petitioned the judge, asking that should he decide for the plaintiffs, that he stay his decision pending an immediate appeal so that no same-sex marriages can be performed until the appeals process is completed.

I seriously love this show. It's not the typical law enforcement show because they are in the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, which means that they study the behavior of the suspects to catch the bad guys.

Anyways, at the beginning and end of the episodes, one of the main characters is always doing a voice-over of a quote. Some of them are seriously awesome. Just had to share:

It's funny, because I completely enjoy these quotes. Last night, I was watching an episode of Criminal Minds and my cousin Liz started talking to me during the middle of the quote (the last one). I was like, "Wait! I was listening to that quote! Shh!! Talk to me later!" She thought I was ridiculous when I had to rewind it to hear the whole quote. Yes, I'm a nerd like that.
